I'm a freelance photographer based in New York City. I've been shooting for about seven years, and my past clients have included Spin Magazine, GQ Magazine, Complex Magazine, Sony Records Japan, Capitol Records, Relax Magazine, Gen Art NYC, and Evisu Jeans.
Bright, bold, and aggressive colors are a unifying characteristic of my work. I achieve this through specialized films, alternative processing techniques, and some truly insane lenses. I like landscapes as much as the next guy, but compelling shots of people are what really moves me. Whether it's on the street or in the studio, I love interacting with my subjects and nailing that brilliant portrait.
I have a huge passion for music, traveling, motorcycles, and New York City. You'll see plenty of shots around these themes as you browse through my site. Although I own a digital camera - and I'm a definite Photoshop junkie - analog film will always be my first love. Most of my work has been shot with classic German, Japanese, and Russian cameras. Some of them are older than I am - and they're still capable of world-class images. However, you'll notice that they have a very organic feel compared to most of the digital work that you see today. As nice as all the new techno-cameras are, they just don't make 'em like they used to.
I'm available for assignments, projects, and events. I also regularly do test shoots with models, stylists, and make-up artists. Please drop me a line, and let's work together!
Thanks,
Michael Kuhle
